Options for Themes and songs
Your school or class gets to choose the song for your Make a Music Video workshop! Pick a popular track that students love and will enjoy performing. Here are some great song ideas:
- High School Musical
- Taylor Swift hits
- Ed Sheeran favorites
- Michael Jackson classics
- Happy – Pharrell Williams
- I Like to Move It – will.i.am
- Waka Waka
- Musicals & show tunes
- Ghostbusters
- Line dancing
- Christmas specials
The possibilities are endless! Let us know your choice in advance so we can create an exciting choreography before the workshop.
Great for boys and girls
We tailor the dance to ensure everyone has fun and feels included. If you have a lot of boys, we’ll keep it balanced—not too girly! We can also create separate sections for boys and girls if preferred.
See the video below from our workshop:
Filming
- Learn a simple dance routine (usually the chorus of your chosen song).
- Film fun group shots around the school, including close-up lip-syncing.
- Record the main dance in various locations for a dynamic final video.
- More time to refine and perfect your dance video.
- Start with a creative planning session to discuss ideas and inspiration.
- Learn and film the chorus, plus additional dance sections.
- Option for separate boys' and girls' sections or creative choreography elements.
- More time for group shots, close-ups, and lip-syncing to enhance the final edit.
Dance Level and Teachers
Dance Level
We tailor the dance routine to match the skill level of your students. With over 20 years of experience, we know the right steps for each year group. If you have talented pupils who need a challenge or others who prefer simpler moves, just let us know—we’ll adapt accordingly.
How many dance teachers do you get?
Our Make a Music Video workshop is led by a skilled Zest dance teacher who also handles the filming.
For our Level 3 video package, we can provide an additional dance teacher to work closely with groups. If multiple classes are participating, having an extra teacher is essential for smooth choreography and preparation before filming.
Costume
Costumes are optional, but they definitely add a great touch to your video.
You could start in school uniforms and switch to casual outfits later, or choose a coordinated style—like matching colors—to create a pop band look. The choice is yours to make your video unique!
Final Video and Editing
Editing
After filming, we’ll edit your video and usually have it ready within 1 week. During the editing process, we’ll add some fun effects and tricks to enhance the video. Before we start, we’ll discuss your vision for the final look so we can make it exactly how you want.
Once the draft is ready, we’ll send it to you for feedback. You can suggest any changes, and we’ll finalize the video a few days later.
Video Delivery
Typically, we upload the final video to YouTube and provide a private link that only your school can access. It’s completely up to you—if you prefer, the video can stay private, and you can share it only with those you choose.
If you don’t want the video posted online at all, just let us know, and we’ll send it to you via another method!
