The States of Matter School Workshops

Hands-on Dry Ice Workshop

Bring science to life with our hands-on States of Matter workshop! Pupils explore solids, liquids, and gases through exciting experiments, including inflating balloons with dry ice, freezing hot water in minutes, using pH indicators, and creating fog filled bubbles. Every activity is fully hands-on, engaging pupils while reinforcing key scientific concepts. Designed for KS1 to KS3, the workshop is curriculum-linked and can be adapted for SEND pupils, ensuring everyone can participate safely and confidently. Teachers enjoy a stress-free session with all equipment, safety measures, set-up, and clean-up provided. Perfect for STEM days, curriculum enrichment, or science weeks, this workshop sparks curiosity, encourages experimentation, and makes science unforgettable.

Why Our States of Matter Workshop is so Popular!

  • Hands-On Engagement: The workshops are designed to be 100% hands-on, allowing students to directly participate in the experiments. This active involvement is more memorable than simply reading from a textbook and fosters a deeper understanding of scientific concepts.
  • "Wow" Factor Demos: Dry ice creates a spectacular visual effect with its billowing fog. This "wow" factor immediately grabs students' attention and makes science seem exciting and fun, helping to change the perception that science is boring or dangerous.
  • Curriculum Alignment: The workshops are carefully crafted to align with the school curriculum, covering topics like states of matter (solids, liquids, and gases), sublimation, and chemical reactions. This makes the workshops a valuable and relevant educational tool for teachers.
  • Professional Expertise: The workshops are led by highly trained scientists, not actors. This ensures that the information is accurate, the experiments are safe, and the presenters can answer students' questions with genuine expertise.

Testimonials

I have hired Lab Rascals twice to deliver dry ice workshops across 10 primary schools and two SEND special schools as part of our STEM programme. The feedback and response from every single school were amazing! The team was professional, well-prepared, and a joy to work with. They handled the logistics of visiting multiple locations seamlessly, and their workshops captivated every student. The hands-on nature of the dry ice experiments was a huge hit, and we received fantastic comments from both teachers and pupils alike. The workshops provided a brilliant learning experience that was both educational and incredibly engaging. I highly recommend Lab Rascals to any school or organisation looking for a high-quality, impactful workshops.
