Chinese Props
Before starting the dance workshops, we showcase a variety of fascinating props to make the experience interactive and engaging. Children love exploring items like lanterns, a Chinese flag, a lion puppet, lucky hanging ornaments, decorative fans, and pictures of Dragon dances and costumes. These props not only spark curiosity but also provide participants with a meaningful introduction to Chinese culture.
To add to the authenticity, your Zest teacher will be dressed in traditional Chinese attire, creating a vibrant and immersive atmosphere for the workshop.

Chinese Fan Dance
Students will have the opportunity to learn a vibrant traditional Fan Dance. As a linked activity, they can create their own simple paper fans beforehand, or we can provide Chinese paper fans for everyone to use. Let us know your preference.

Chinese New Year Stories
If you're celebrating Chinese New Year, the workshop will begin with the dance teacher sharing the story of the New Year and how the animals were chosen for the zodiac. It's an engaging tale, especially for early years and KS1 students.
Dance Performance
Each year group will have the chance to perform a unique Chinese dance in the assembly, showcasing their hard work and creativity. The dances are diverse, with some groups focusing on traditional movements, like Year 3’s dragon-inspired routine featuring patterns such as 'Chasing the Pearl,' 'Spirals,' and the 'Wave.' Chinese dance is a wonderful way to promote teamwork, as students work together to create a performance. The collaborative nature of the dance brings a sense of accomplishment.
