Introduction
The workshop kicks off with an introduction from a Viking warrior, who will showcase their weapons, shields, helmets, and armor. They’ll demonstrate how these were used during the Viking era. The remainder of the day is filled with exciting, hands-on sessions that keep the students actively engaged.

Workshop Activities
Viking Board Games: Students will play two popular Viking-era games, 9 Men’s Morris and Hnefatafl, for a fun and interactive experience.
Archaeology: Children will sift through sand trays to discover real artefacts buried in England, with some dating back to Roman times!
A Viking Thing: A ‘Thing’ was a Viking gathering where free people decided their settlement’s fate. Students will participate in their own Thing during a dynamic PowerPoint session, making decisions that affect Viking society. Can they keep all three social classes happy?
Viking Artefact Investigation: The workshop leader will introduce a variety of replica Viking artefacts, explaining their uses, from fire-starting techniques to Viking clothing and drinking vessels. Children may also have the opportunity to dress up as young Vikings!
Depending on the schedule and the number of participating classes, additional talks or presentations, like the Viking sagas (stories of Viking gods’ adventures), may also be included.
