Florence Nightingale Workshop for Schools

Provided by The Drama Hut

Travel back with the Lady with the Lamp and explore her impact on nursing and hospital care.

During this immersive workshop, children will step back into the Victorian era to explore the world Florence Nightingale lived and worked in. They’ll travel to the Scutari hospital during the Crimean War, using improvisation to experience the harsh conditions faced by nurses and soldiers. Along the way, they’ll learn about Mary Seacole and the prejudice she overcame, and bring Florence’s inspiring story to life through drama and poetry.

Testimonials

"There was such a range of activities within the workshops so all children were kept engaged and interested. It was not only informative but also gave the children the opportunity to participate in a range of drama activities to help them understand what it was like for Florence. I am sure that this will lead to some excellent writing over the coming days and weeks."
