Dynamic Earth School Workshops

Causes of the Climate Emergency

Animals, volcanoes, natural fires, and hydrothermal vents have always produced significant amounts of carbon dioxide (CO2) - so why are we concerned about CO2 levels today? The Earth has experienced colder - and hotter - epochs in the past. Are increasing global temperatures not simply due to natural cycles? Help your students achieve a global understanding of climate change, as these questions and more are answered in our 360° dome show addressing the causes of the climate emergency. Group discussion is preceded by a stunning 360° film exploring the inner workings of the global climate, with rich visualisations based on satellite data and supercomputer simulations. We follow the path of energy from the Sun into the global systems that shape our climate: atmosphere, oceans and biosphere.

Format

Presenter-led discussion of the climate emergency, preceded by a high-res 4K film.

Discover the Interlocking Systems that Shape our Climate

Earth's climate is the result of the complex interactions between our planet's atmosphere, oceans and biosphere.

Why are CO2 Levels of Critical Importance to Planets?

During the show we measure CO2 levels inside the dome, and compare them to what are considered to be normal levels today, as well as in the recent past.
