Robotics Workshops for Schools

We learn about coding and the function of different robots before building and programming our own.

At Inventors & Makers, we believe every child should grow up seeing themselves as an inventor and engineer - inspired today to shape the world of tomorrow. Through understanding how coding works and building algorithms we show children how Robots are used in the real world and give them to opportunities to solve challenges using different robots. We use Botley's for KS1 and Cutebots for KS2. In EYFS we believe in turning tiny hands and curious minds into tomorrow’s STEM Heroes - one discovery at a time. With coding, we focus on sequences and patterns, building up to writing algorithms unplugged, through fun activities. - Coding & Robotics (for KS1 & KS2) - Coding & Games (for LKS2) - Coding Unplugged (for EY, KS1 & KS2)

Format

We can visit you in-person over a half day or up to several days and deliver a mixture of workshops and assemblies across a range of year groups; or we can reach you wherever you are and whatever your budget with our virtual self-led workshops.

Regions

London, Kent, Tyneside, Berkshire, Hampshire, Surrey, West Sussex, East Sussex and Oxfordshire areas. Other areas are negotiable.

EYFS Coding Unplugged

  • We explore coding with this totally unplugged workshop which delves into the foundational skills of coding. We learn about patterns, logic, sequencing and directions, using numbers, building blocks, fun songs and giving directions around a maze. All of our early years workshops include a mystery bag, a story, a warm up and a song as well as the practical activities.

KS1 Coding & Robots

  • We learn about coding as we take part in fun, practical activities and use our interactive robots to write and debug sequences of code. Children listen to a story, find out about real robots and then use simple coding to control and problem-solve algorithms involving movement, sound and light outputs.

Botley

KS2 Robotics & Coding

  •  We learn about coding and the function of different robots before building and programming our own. We assemble Moon Lander robots using electronics before programming and debugging them to solve a variety of problems with outputs including motors, lights and sensors. This workshop requires you to provide your own laptop/desktop computers per group of 3 pupils.

Cost

As a small business, we can adapt our pricing to fit your budget.

Professionalism in communication, organisation, and delivery of workshops. Having Inventors & Makers in our school was a positive experience. They have demonstrated a high level of professionalism and expertise. Recommending a workshop based on its alignment with students' needs is a valuable endorsement. I highly recommend it.

Beatriz de Ory Louro, Google review

Having Inventors and Makers come in to run workshops in our school has been an amazing experience. Laura has been brilliant from the beginning at liaising with me - all my questions were answered really promptly and joint organisation before the workshops meant that they went off without a hitch. On the day, both Susie and Laura were incredible. All staff and children raved about the workshops and one of our staff said that it was the best workshop she had ever been to. The workshop met our remit exactly and I would recommend this company to other schools.
