Hands on interactive workshop

Our workshops are designed to relate to key stage 2 of the History National Curriculum which states pupils should learn about the Viking and Anglo-Saxon struggle for the Kingdom of England to the time of Edward the Confessor, to include Viking raids and invasions, the Danelaw, Danegeld, Anglo-Saxon laws and justice, as well as art, culture, religion, and includes attitudes and experiences about the social, cultural, religious and ethnic diversity of the societies they came from all the way to 1066!

We only provide a whole day workshop

Age Groups

Y3 - Y7

Morning Session

We allow the children a unique opportunity to see, touch, handle, smell and wear our huge collection of period artefacts, both real and reproduction, which cover all aspects of Saxon and Viking daily life, as well as the weapons and armour used in battle and warfare.

We engage the children through the use of hands on experience and role play and we aim to get most of the children to take an active part at sometime during the day. All the children will spend 90% of the day with us and we can cope with up to 3 classes. We are one of the only companies that cover the whole of the UK and all our staff hold a current DBS certificate and we are fully insured.

Longship Trading Company was started in 1992 and are specialists in bringing Viking & Saxon history alive. We are one the most experienced companies providing Viking, & Saxon Workshops, and one of the few who make visits all over the UK, 1000's of schools have experienced one of our school workshops most of which book a return visit. Children get a unique opportunity to see, touch, smell and wear our huge collection of period artefacts, both real and reproduction, which cover all aspects of Saxon and Viking daily life, as well as the weapons and armour used in battle and warfare. We engage the children through the use of hands on experience and role play and we aim to get as many of the children as possible to take an active part at sometime during the day, all the children will spend 90% of the day with us. our workshops are a whole day we aim to arrive at 8am and start at 9:15am and finish at the end of your school day, up to 3 classes (90 Children) can take part in one workshop.
